I’m trying out a poetry prompt series for September, let’s see how it goes. I’ll put up a few scattered pieces.

#20 — Soft voice

a hush settled over
the entire room.
a weighted blanket,
comforting in its warmth.
eyes glistened with tears,
cheeks flushed with happiness,
a labour of pure love.
hands clasped tightly in prayer
loosened as relief set in.
palpable excitement
sparked in the air,
and that split second,
seemed an eternity,
as a soft voice said,
in an awe-filled whisper,
a baby girl.
