i saw two people holding hands.

(i miss you)

in a supermarket, i heard the faintest
strains of our song.

(my heart skipped a beat)

my bed feels too big for me.
i splay out like i can fill the empty space
with just my limbs.

(i wish this memory foam had your imprint)

no worries if you’re busy!

(i am terrified that we are becoming fond memories)

my mom asked about you today.

(we have not spoken in weeks)

i’ll have to cancel on our call today, can you do tomorrow?

(i wish we were in the same room again)

i heard the laughter from two streets away.

(i was thrown back to four years ago)

look, i found the birthday gifts!

(i had to check my calendar this year)

you don’t have to say anything back.

(i am afraid)

i loved you once, when we were younger.

(i love you still, just in a different way)
